Bump, Set, Spike

Taylor and Madison just finished up a two month volleyball class. They had a great time and improved tremendously. Once a week we traveled to some of the other recreation centers in the area and played their teams. It was fun watching them compete. I realize the pictures aren't the greatest, the big dark gym was just more than my little flash could handle.

You are not my best friend anymore

I just had to share something Havyn said today.....I thought she was too young to act this way. I had just finished folding 5 loads of laundry when she decided she needed an article of clothing on the bottom of the pile. She pulled the shirt from the bottom and her enormous pile of clothes spilled onto the floor. I said "Havyn you didn't need to do that, I just folded all those and now I have to do it again." She turned to me and said, "fine, I don't want my clothes and you are not my best friend anymore." Seriously I thought I had a few more years until she started talking to me like that.

Crazy, Crazy, Crazy

This week at school it has been Drug Awareness Week, today is the final day of all the craziness! As you can see, today is crazy hair day. On the way to school Taylor said, "crazy hair is awesome I wish I could have crazy hair everyday." We had a good time with it.

Tagged In 4's

I have been tagged. In this tag, choose your 4th photo in your 4th folder and write a brief description. Surprise, surprise another beach photo! This picture was taken from Mokuleia Beach Park this is a big spot for kite boarders and wind surfers. I tag Lindsay, Melissa, Tirsa, Andrea and Kristen.

Happy Halloween

This Halloween we are once again Egyptians. Yes, I am re-costuming. I guess it is something like re-gifting. I figured we were in a new place we could use them one more year. Besides they took me so much time to make, I deserved a year off. I did have to make new dresses for all of the kids.....for some reason they are bigger than they were last year. :) Saturday was our ward Halloween party so we got all dressed up and we partied. Here are some pics.

Rainy Day But We'll Play Anyway

Saturday was a rainy rainy rainy day. We were getting so cooped up in the house we decided we would go to the beach, we would be getting wet any way. We went to the Kailua Beach Park. We have been to this park in the past but for some reason there was a huge sand dune this time. The kids thought it was great. Instead of riding the waves they decided to ride the sand and they had a great time doing it. They started off going down on their knees or stomachs but each time got braver and braver. Have you ever surfed in sand?

Havyn had a good time jumping down the sand

This is a picture of Havyn and the turtle that I made. She was waiting patiently to smash him.

Koolau Mountain Waterfalls

On Saturday it rained and rained and rained and rained. It truly didn't stop raining all day long. When you get a good rain there are natural waterfalls all over the Koolau mountains. We drove to the botanical gardens so we could get a few pictures. The clouds never really lifted so they aren't the clearest photos but you get the picture. It is a gorgeous sight!

This is a panoramic shot of part of the Koolau mountains. Steve took it in the same area the waterfalls were on a different day. Click on any of the photos to view them larger.

My Mom, Sister Erin and her kids (Ethan, Ally & Ryan) just left after spending ten days with us. We had a blast and were sad when they had to leave. We packed in the activities and were worn out each night.

We Lei'd our visitors once they arrived

This picture was taken in the Laie temple visitors center, the kids were intently listening to the recording of the Savior....it was priceless!

Ally and Havyn at the Laie Temple....just another cute picture!

Beach Bums

Instead of listing our beach excursions individually I opted to just add a few of the highlights. We spent some time on the North Shore, Kailua Beach and Hanauma Bay.

Madison, Ethan, Cole and Taylor watching a turtle who was on shore getting some sun. This beach is along the north shore, known for sunbathing turtles

Ally and Havyn - You can't go to the North Shore without stopping for shaved ice.

Havyn, Amber and Ally catching some waves on Kailua Beach (5 min. from our house) Our favorite beach

Dole Plantation Pretty Dull

On this day we visited the Dole Plantation. We took the kids on a two mile train tour that tells the history of the pineapple. The little ones thought the train was fun but the adults thought it was pretty dull. The tour was over priced and pretty ugly - nothing but pineapple plants and red dirt. They also have the worlds largest maze here. We opted not to do the maze because there were too many kids to carry three miles and it was just too darn hot this day. The best part was the free sample (one small chunk) of pineapple they give you at the end of the tour.

The kids feeding the fish - there were so many fish fighting over the food they
were piled on top of each other, half of them were totally out of the water.

Getting ready to ride the pineapple express

Honolulu Zoo & Waikiki Aquarium

We spent the day at the Honolulu Zoo and the Waikiki Aquarium. Both places are pretty inexpensive (about the only cheap thing in Hawaii) and the kids had a blast!

Most of the crew at the Zoo

Cole and Ethan at the bird exhibit

Cole in his model pose - these trees are all over they are huge and have the coolest striped trunks

Taylor and Madison - another cool tree. These trees have vines that hang down once
they hit the ground they take root creating hundreds of different trunks.

All the kids at the Keiki Zoo

This picture wasn't really taken at the zoo it was at walmart but it was so cute

Ally, Havyn, Taylor, Madison, Ethan and Cole outside the Waikiki Aquarium

Kids in the aquarium - Havyn enjoying the self guided tour wand

Too many animals, we wore them out!

Waikiki

We went to Waikiki one night to browse through the shops and check out all the street performers. There are some really good performers and some really bad ones, some people will do anything to make a buck! These pictures were taken along the main street in Waikiki.

My Boy Is Back

Well after a few months of letting Cole's hair grow out. I finally got my way and cut it short again. Steve really wants to have long hair but since that probably wouldn't qualify as a military cut, he has been trying to live through his son. I have to admit Cole did look cute sometimes with his little surfer style cut but I was tired of seeing it hang in his eyes. My boys back!

Before - the hair looks a little mangled here, we had just been to the beach

Having a little fun with the cut....thess pics shows how long it really was

There's my handsome boy...this is just how a boy should look
