We finally made it to another one of the Hawaiian Islands....we figured we better start packing it in since our time here is getting shorter and shorter. It is fun seeing the differences between the islands. Kauai is very green and beautiful but it also has some very large red dirt canyons. One of our favorite things about Kauai was the feeling of being in the country. We figured since it was a holiday and the Kauai marathon weekend that it would be busy and crowded with people, but that was not true at all. In fact, when we went to barking sands beach we were the only people there. Barking Sands beach is huge! We started to wonder if we weren't supposed to be there...eventually another family arrived and put our minds at ease. The trip was the perfect mix of beach, waterfalls, sights, food and fun! (Because I use my blog to make scrapbooks, I post lots of pictures...get ready for a photo overload)

Kauai is called the garden isle, but I think it should be changed to the chicken/rooster isle. Look at this one posing!
Huge beach - and yes you are right...not another person in sight!
Ni'ihau (forbidden island) in the background...it is a private island owned by the Robinson family.
We need to work on technique
Wailua Falls

The water here was so beautifully clear, I could have stayed in there all day if I couldn't see the crabs at my feet

Ok... we are going to have to put that on our "must do" list. What a vacation! Kauai is beautiful!
Whoa! You guys really packed it in for the weekend. Such a beautiful place, Kauai was one of my favorite islands. Glad you got to experience it. But now you'll have to go back during whale season and see the whales and dolphins, so amazing!
It looks so beautiful! Which island has been your favorite?
